It could always be worse. It could be baseball movies and reality shows. The depths to which the mind may sink are unfathomable but baseball movies and reality shows have to be pretty close to the bottom. (I except Duck Dynasty from this category. Duck Dynasty is masterfully scripted family snark and stands in a category of its own.)
I don't think I've ever watched any of the baseball movies, though I read several entertaining Jim Bouton books while remaining ignorant of the sport itself. And there was a book by a friend of Ted Williams which I remember as wonderful.
I will take your word on baseball movies, however, and will add them to the list of Things Which Could Be Worse, along with Dr. Seuss books, Jerry Lewis movies and the TV series Friends.
I concur with your valuation of Duck Dynasty: good writing, delivered with panache. It's just fun to watch and it always makes me laugh. Which reminds me, I avoided Seinfeld until the year before it ended, becoming the last viewer in America to discover it was amazingly funny. Should I revisit my avoidance of Friends? Maybe I've missed the boat there, too.
